cheers for the feedback on the trailers it’s always interesting to get responses from the viewers of the ads. We found Dan Francis by contacting lots of local running and triathlon clubs for anyone with surnames or first names that allowed a play on words with France…it took us a while but we found Dan and the rest is history as they say.
Brilliant, a credit to all involved, i showed this to my wife and for the first time ever she understands why i love cycling so much. Anyone who has ever ridden a real bike up a real mountain, with that sort of courage and determination, anybody who has broken down on the phone to their wife, anyone who understands the incredibly personal intensity of that experience will appreciate this video. Well done Dan, from the bottom of my heart, i would be proud to ride alongside you anytime.
Oh, and I’ve only just realised that in the one clip they use over and over and over again, he’s actually saying “A really, really big climb” and not I want a really, really really big pint”!
This film was actually interesting – those bloody trailers are abysmal though! I assumed it was all fake and he was an actor. Do they have to show the same two over and over again?? And I still don’t believe his surname’s really Francis though — what are the chances??!
YAWN, the adverts are getting so boring now!!! well done Dan , you took on hairpin bends like the pros’s, its not like every other cyclist couldn’t travel over and do the same! “The scenery is constantly changing”, well done Dan, that’s because your moving. For fucks sake get it off the tele now. (and by the way, yes i do ride)
nice story well done. but itv and halfords need to improve the actual advert on the tdf coz all it is is this guy on his bike, nothing else, no prices or speaking apart from the cyclist and its crap but well done for doing it dan!
Coming at this from a different angle. Only 20,029 views after nigh on three weeks, that’s pretty poor in terms of what I bet the Media Planners / Account Directors at al sold to Halfords when proposing this “film”.
With the team behind it on location and all the logistics, then add the production/editing, and then add to that the cost of the overall sponsorship probably very view of this on YouTube has cost them 4k – not exactly a good ROI
Got myself a Carrera Virago. Nice bike.Good value for money, but not one for the label snobs.
excellent video, thanks Halfords!
12:49 “race the ferrari, I win” yeah but you also broke the law in the process by not stopping
WELL DONE FRANCIS! NICE CLIMB AND GOOD RYTHM! 🙂 WELL DONE MAN!
