Cyclist Rammer Gets Three Year Sentence

With the current round of news circulating of collisions between drivers and bikers, there is much concern about bringing the drivers to justice and to increase a general consciousness about being more patient of cyclists on the road.


The cycling community will take heart to know that a motorist who had left a cyclist with serious injuries when he rammed into him has been sentenced to jail for a term of three years. Justin Henshaw-Bryan is currently undergoing trials as he has been found guilty of knocking off a cyclist off his bike. Justin, 25 years of age, knocked off a courier cyclist, Damien Doughty on February 2016. Justine was on her phone and having an altercation when she caused the accident. Frank Schleck And His Legal Case

In a recent news it was announced that Leopard AG would pay Frank Schleck about two million as damage payment.


The team separated ways with Frank in 2013 as per the Swiss news website. The payment will be made to Schleck and Winfrank GmBH which is his company. CAS’s decision was held up by the Swiss court in this matter.

There was a legal case based on the incident that occurred in 2013. The RadioShack – Leopard team had sacked Schleck when he tested positive for a diuretic drug called Xipamide. He tested positive in 2012 when he was about to participate in the Tour de France event. At that time he was banned for a period of 12 months, which started from January of next year. Even though the ban was issued Schleck continued to train. Even though he had been suspended, he continued to train and was about to return for active races when the team decided to sack him. Froome to consider Vuelta a España 2016 racing, says team director

Chris Froome, the Team Sky leader, is thinking of racing Vuelta a España for a 3rd back to back year this season, after the Tour de France as well as the Olympic Games, said Nico Portal, the team’s sports director.
Speaking to a leading cycling news website, Portal said that he is thinking it again. This is not a pre-season objective but this is a race he likes a lot. This is like Volta a Catalunya: he prefers to do it, the level is quite high, and in Vuelta a España the weather’s always very good. That all suits him.
This time, the primary interest for Sky is Froome’s form as he brings to Tour de France, and as per the Portal as he looks to July  he is going quite well and they were very happy with his condition at this point of time.

Geraint Thomas expecting to go ‘under the radar’ at Flanders

Geraint Thomas has accepted it would be a huge bonus if he won Tour of Flanders on Saturday, having spent almost no time at all educating on the cobbles in the build-up up to Belgian classic, 1 the 5 memorials of cycling season.
But the man from Welsh, who is concentrating on stage racing instead of the classics this year, suggested that he was healthy and fit and it might actually suit him better to fly under the radar this time around.
Twenty-nine year old was one of the huge pre-race favorites at Flanders twelve months ago having only prevailed at E3 Harelbeke and ending 3rd at the Ghent-Wevelgem. With Sir Bradley Wiggins utilizing the race to get set for his swansong at the Paris-Roubaix the next weekend, there was a grand amount of hype walling Sky, but they finished up doing a whole lot of work at the front of the race and Geraint ran out of mates and legs in the end, ending fourteenth.

Olympian Rowsell Cherishes Creating A Difference

With 5 golds in World Championship, 1 Olympic gold, 1 gold in Commonwealth & 3 golds in European Championship at a mere age of  twenty-six- Joanna Rowsell can surely cherish of creating a difference in the world of women’s cycling, especially in Britain.

Yes, she is still to exceed Britain’s cycling queen Victoria Pendleton’s career haul yet the charismatic Olympian has got time to prove her mettle further.

When a great cyclist of her stature comes to Derby, it’s no surprise that she would be greeted by numerous budding cyclists from all across UK to listen to her speech.

“I was kind of talent-spotted back in 2004”, stated the Olympian.

“They felt that I had this raw potential of an Olympic rider. I cannot say that I actually believed them that moment. I was curious, interested but I was not into riding- albeit I had been into other sports. We went through some sort of testing during my school days, mostly with mountain bikes around some cones over the school’s playing field. After that, I was invited for more testing on static output that tested my very power output. That came out good & signified that I do carry the needed raw talent.”, she continued.

“It is one thing to have but that’s not everything. The path wasn’t easy & I had to go through immense hard work. There were several pitfalls & successes all through. I have seen many stop the game who’re actually highly talented.” Read the rest of this entry »

Martin Kohler Joins Drapac Cycling Team

Martin Kohler (Swiss professional cyclist) ends seven years of association with BMC Racing Team in order to join the Australian Drapac Cycling Team for the next cycling season. In 2011, Kohler had won the Swiss National Time Trial Championships and in 2012 he had won the Swiss National Road Race Championships.

Kohler said that he always wanted to win races. When he was a part of the U23 and juniors teams he used to win. Ever since he was with BMC Racing Team, he devoted himself to support the star riders and he could not work on himself. But after joining Drapac it seems to him that he has got a chance to fulfill his dream of winning races.

In 2011, Kohler participated in Giro d’Italia but withdrew from it. In the same year, he also competed in Vuelta a Espana. Kohler had also participated in the 2013 Vuelta a Espana. Along with such grand tours, Kohler has competed in Il Lombardia, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. Read the rest of this entry »
