Martin Kohler (Swiss professional cyclist) ends seven years of association with BMC Racing Team in order to join the Australian Drapac Cycling Team for the next cycling season. In 2011, Kohler had won the Swiss National Time Trial Championships and in 2012 he had won the Swiss National Road Race Championships.
Kohler said that he always wanted to win races. When he was a part of the U23 and juniors teams he used to win. Ever since he was with BMC Racing Team, he devoted himself to support the star riders and he could not work on himself. But after joining Drapac it seems to him that he has got a chance to fulfill his dream of winning races.
In 2011, Kohler participated in Giro d’Italia but withdrew from it. In the same year, he also competed in Vuelta a Espana. Kohler had also participated in the 2013 Vuelta a Espana. Along with such grand tours, Kohler has competed in Il Lombardia, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix.
According to Kohler, he is bringing in with him around 7 years of experience and he has enough knowledge about leading or guiding a team and about professional cycling as well. He is hopeful that despite being a small pro cycling team it will be able to become successful and strong if everyone is equally motivated and dedicated.
In 2010, Kohler was a part of the Geelong World Championships. In the 2012 Tour Down Under, Kohler had led his team for around two stages and he stood 15th in the overall standings of this tour.
Martin Kohler even said that he has always felt comfortable and welcomed in Australia. He has always heard good things about Drapac Cycling Team from the riders belonging to the team. Thus when he got the opportunity to join the team, he did not wait to grab the opportunity.
